Memory Lane

I took the day off today to hang out with Kayci and Noble. Yesterday we never even went outside except to feed and water Sami a couple of times. It was a lazy, lazy day. Which is great, in small doses. So today we're going to get OUT and play--hit the park, see what happens from there. I'm looking forward to playing outside. :) But that's not the point. I was standing here, putting on my jewelry, and out of nowhere I remembered the first time we ever had a school holiday in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. It was my freshman year of high school, so it would have been 1989. I remember that my friends and I made the big trek to Deerbrook Mall, and I remember riding in the backseat of Ky's Monte Carlo and holding on for dear life. He was an...um...adventurous driver. One of my favorite quotes of all time came from that car ride, as he took a curve at an ungodly speed and over the screams of his passengers I can still hear Ky's 18 year old voice--"it's okay, it's okay, I took Physics." Ky, I still think of you whenever I take a curve too fast, and I'm never afraid because I figure between your driving lessons and Will Ed Mathews' Physics lessons, I'm covered. :)
