Favorite Things: room refresh!

So much of our home is static and doesn't change...but the kids' room needs to change and grow with them. We're about to be on the 3rd bed(s) and 4th set(s) of bedding in 5 years...luckily, I bought duvet covers that match the existing blue and orange--you're welcome, Daddyboy!

It's time to give the kids their own spaces, and I'm so excited! Here's a sneak peek:

Favorite Things: Post-Christmas Clean-Up!

Every year after Christmas we get energetic and attack an area of the house.  This year we started before Christmas in some of the closets, etc.  It felt good!  Since last spring, we've been wanting to work on the kids' room...face it, we're not moving anytime soon, so the one room needs to work AND give both of them some private space.  And we're working with a limited (read:  nonexistent) budget.  Daddyboy and I have kicked around several ideas and options, but a few weeks ago I found something that just INSPIRED me.  So, today's the day:  the kids don't know it, but today is the day we start moving toward their new & improved room.  Goodbye clutter, hello...organized clutter?

Favorite Things: Christmas Eve Pajamas

Every year we open one present on Christmas Eve...new pajamas.  I've had a friend make pajamas for the kids the past couple of years to match our Nick & Noras, but this year I found the kids' sizes in matching pjs.  James and I didn't have matching ones, but I wasn't stressed--I figured one year wouldn't hurt.  Kayci picked out a pair of Ralphie pajama pants for Daddy, and since she got those I let Noble pick out a pair of pants for me while we were out one day.  I wasn't really excited about them, but I *was* excited about everyone else's, so I was fine with it.  But when I opened up the box that I'd wrapped them in, I found the Nick & Nora Santa pajamas I'd been wanting for a while.  James and Kayci conspired to surprise me--how sweet!  :)  What a fun way to start Christmas!

And there they are...110+ Christmas cards, all ready to go this morning.  I feel so accomplished, since last year we sent out "New Year" cards.
